About Us

San Francisco-born Arianna Nourse is the founder of Life Imitates, a London-based production and curatorial company that plugs the education gap between patrons, artists and the business of art, unlocking confidence whilst ethically acquiring, creating and distributing works.

Beyond strategic collection and studio advice, Life Imitates partners with global philanthropists to produce change-making projects by some of the artworld’s most fêted creatives.

Nourse studied 20th Century Art under Benjamin Buchloh at Columbia University, quite liked it, and switched majors. She began her career at Phillips, where she produced myriad auctions and exhibitions in London and New York over seven years, and became the 200+ year old company’s first Black woman specialist in contemporary art and photography.

Nourse is dual UK-US national with Black American and Brooklyn Jewish heritage, who was raised to believe that all people have a right to peace. She supports projects that defy stereotype and generate art for the greatest good.
